Your daily brew. 2017.
'Your daily brew' is a public installation that highlights our constant consumption of disposable goods. Inspired by thoughtless acts - small follies of human behavior - where public tends to leave their coffee cups and soda bottles behind them while flocking trough the city. After a while that rubbish starts to accumulate on benches, fences, curbs and other surfaces in the public space.
The installation pursues to encourage people to manage their rubbish by leveraging the intuitive patterns of behavior and people's imagination. Taking inspiration from street art I created fake infrastructure, a series of objects that adapt to existing spaces and attach on light poles, posts, benches, fences etc. After introducing these objects to the space they started immediately accumulate large amounts of waste.
We are constantly consuming products that are designed to be thrown away, some just few seconds after the use. Coffee cups, plastic spoons, straws, forks, bottles, cup lids, tissue, food wrappings, plastic bags – they are every where and all the time. For instance in UK more than 8 million paper cups are thrown away per day. After the product is used it becomes obsolete. This litter fails to end up in the waste collection systems usually because of inconsiderate human behavior.
