Naru. 2014.

The aim of the project was to create a modern interpretation of Danish design classics through a simple method: copy, combine and extend. The starting point for Naru was Hans Wegner’s Wishingbone chair and Borge Mogensen’s Shaker chair which were studied focusing on their dimensions, structure and materials.

Celebrating the traditional materials, paper string is weaved around the ash wood frame which makes the form for the seat and the backrest. This creates a comfortable support for sitting but also a see-trough element which makes it visually interesting to look at from all angles.

1st price in the Promosedia International Design Competition 2012, Udine, Italy. Exhibited in Milan Design Week 2013. In collaboration with Satoru Mochisuki.
